Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 24, 2026
ISS Tracker (“the app”) is developed by 3PM Studios. This policy describes how the app handles information when you use it on your iPhone.
Summary
- No account or sign-in.
- No advertising or sale of personal data.
- Most data stays on your device.
- Network requests go to public space-station and map services (see below).
Information we collect
Location
If you choose “current location” for pass predictions, the app uses Apple’s location services while you use the app to obtain coordinates and search for visible passes. Location is not tracked in the background for this feature. You can deny permission and still search by city or ZIP.
Data stored on your device
The app may store locally on your iPhone:
- Pass search history (place name, pass times, directions)
- Saved locations you add
- Live Activity snapshot of your next pass (App Group shared with the app extension for ActivityKit)
- Preferences such as “Follow ISS” on the map
You can delete history in the app; removing the app deletes local app data.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, the app schedules local reminders on your device for upcoming passes. Notification content is not sent to our servers (we do not operate a backend).
Information sent to third parties
To show live tracking and passes, the app contacts third-party services over HTTPS. Those services receive technical data typical of API requests (for example, IP address, coordinates you search, and satellite identifiers). We do not control their policies:
- Where The ISS At — live ISS position
- ISS Tracker API — visible pass predictions (latitude and longitude you search)
- Lightstreamer / NASA ISSLIVE — cabin environment telemetry on the Live tab (pressure, temperature, water recovery)
- Open Notify — names of people currently in space (ISS crew on the Live tab; no location sent)
- Apple MapKit / geocoding — converting place names to coordinates
- NASA Image and Video Library — ISS photos in the gallery tab
Analytics and tracking
The app does not include third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. Apple may collect standard diagnostics if you opt in to share analytics with app developers via iOS settings; that is governed by Apple’s policies.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
